Remarks by our CEO, Chris Graham, at the SCVO Gathering 2018
“Good afternoon everyone, and welcome to the premiere of Stepping Stones for Families' animation, Our Story. Here was me worried I’d have to address an absolutely gigantic audience.
I’m Christopher Graham, a director of the charity and on behalf of the whole team, thank you so much for taking the time to come. I know there’s a lot going on and it’s a very busy event - we are most grateful.
This animation is really the start of a series of events to celebrate our 30th anniversary. Our aim is that it should clearly explain what we do and our entire purpose. In recent years we’ve been working hard to improve our communications - first with our new brand, then with our expanded use of social media, and now with this short video.
Before we all watch the animation, I have to remark that one of the key takeaways from The Gathering already is the need for good governance in our sector.
I’ve been on the board of Stepping Stones for Families for just over six months. It has been an… immensely rewarding experience to contribute to an organisation that makes a real, lasting difference to the lives of people in our communities.
If you are interested in volunteering in this way, Inspiring Scotland - represented by Elaine Crichton right over there - has a list of charities that are crying out for good board members, so talk to her if that’s of interest to you.
After we’ve played the video our Chief Executive, Isobel Lawson, will take any of your questions about the organisation or our work.
So, without further ado… this is Our Story.”
