TMD does Doors Open Days 2024

We love our studio, based in the historic Fairfield Heritage in Govan, Glasgow. Fairfield is participating in Doors Open Day Festival 2024, and as such we’ll be welcoming the public for a very special behind-the-scenes look at our studio from 21-22 September.

What is Doors Open Days Festival?

Doors Open Days is Scotland’s largest free festival, celebrating heritage and the built environment. It offers free access to over a thousand venues across the country each September. Glasgow’s Doors Open Days fall on the 21-22 September.

Doors Open Days is part of European Heritage Days, and is coordinated nationally by the Scottish Civic Trust.

Fairfield: Victorian Grandeur turned Chic Tech Hub

Our headquarters are situated within Fairfield Heritage, Govan.

Built in 1890, Fairfield was once the global centre of marine engineering excellence, welcoming dignitaries of the highest calibre to launch ships on the Clyde.

Today, this Grade A listed building has been repurposed to house cutting-edge 21st century enterprises, as well as a Heritage Museum. The site boasts an impressive suite of preserved historic rooms, through which the story of the famous shipyard is told.

What To Expect from Doors Open Days at Fairfield

This year’s Doors Open Days offers visitors to Fairfield a special ‘first’ — we’re opening our doors and allowing a tour of our splendidly restored 19th century studio, as well as the work we do.

And we’re not the only ones. Also opening their doors are our fellow tenants — Firecrest Films, award-winning makers of factual TV; and Craft Prospect, developers of satellite technology. Together, we hope to demonstrate how we are continuing the Fairfield legacy of design and engineering excellence.

As well as studio tours, visitors are welcome to explore the Heritage Museum and the historic rooms, including the old Fairfield’s Boardroom and Anteroom.
