NECCUS is a membership organisation working to decarbonise industry in Scotland and beyond by promoting low carbon technologies such as carbon capture, utilisation and storage. Their membership — comprising businesses, academia and public bodies — represents the majority of Scotland’s industrial emitters, as well as those best placed to help abate these emissions.
Following the success of their Scottish Cluster Exchange event series — designed and delivered by TMD — NECCUS wished to launch a flagship annual conference to accelerate their cause and further galvanise the low carbon supply chain. This would be one of the first ever opportunities for the industry’s key decision makers to be under one roof.
We designed, marketed and delivered NECCUS’s inaugural annual conference, DeCarbScotland Conference and Dinner 2023. This day-long affair was held at various locations across the BT Murrayfield site, accommodating an exhibition space and plenary sessions, lunch and refreshments, a pitch-side gander to a drinks reception in Murrayfield’s exclusive Centenary Suite, and a charity-fundraising dinner.
The event was well-attended — a sell-out — seeing substantial interest from big-brand sponsors and appearances from Scottish politicians, including a keynote speech delivered by Michael Matheson MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Net Zero, Energy and Transport. We coordinated the day’s many moving parts, from speakers to AV contractors to venue staff, and added our own special touches — such as ensuring all food on the day was vegan to align with the event’s low carbon theme.
DeCarbScotland 2023 provided a strong foundation for NECCUS to build on into the future, and we have been happy to see an increase in their membership applications following the event.
