MECOPP is an Edinburgh-based charity that supports informal carers and care recipients across Scotland. They primarily work with marginalised groups facing disadvantage due to ethnicity, age, disability, or other protected characteristics. By breaking down barriers, MECOPP ensures carers can access essential health and social care services. They also work closely with the government and other organisations to develop a strategic response to identified gaps in statutory services, in consultation with the communities they serve.
 
MECOPP approached us having recognised that their website was cluttered with information added piecemeal over a number of years. This lack of user journey was especially problematic as many of their service users have English as a second language or limited technological proficiency. Additionally, various MECOPP social media accounts, each representing the charity in different ways, added to the sense of clutter. Assistance was required to make a more accessible and streamlined online presence.
 
We took on the challenge of transforming MECOPP's online communications. We designed and developed a new website that offers a clear and intuitive user journey, making it easier for service users and funders to find the information they need. We implemented a dedicated donations function directly into the site, enabling MECOPP to gather unrestricted funds seamlessly. Additionally, we are actively collaborating with the charity to enhance their long-term communication strategies.
 
The impact of our work has been significant. The revamped website has greatly improved MECOPP's credibility among funders, strengthening their ability to secure essential financial support. By creating a user-friendly platform, we have also empowered MECOPP to better serve their diverse communities, ensuring that vital information and assistance are readily accessible to those who need it most.
