Scotland’s Net Zero Roadmap (SNZR) was a report which offered a comprehensive plan of the actions required to decarbonise Scottish industry by 2045. This was the culmination of several years' work by NECCUS – the trade alliance for decarbonising Scottish industry – in collaboration with AkerSolutions, Altrad, Catapult Energy Systems, Costain, Halliburton, Net Zero Technology Centre, Optimat, Storegga, University of Edinburgh, University of Strathclyde and Wood. The project was jointly funded by Innovate UK, Capricorn, Crown Estate Scotland, Harbour Energy, Petroineos, Shell, SGN and SSE.
We had previously supported NECCUS with a number of their events, namely the Scottish Cluster Exchange event series as well as their inaugural annual conference, DeCarbScotland 2023. Hence, when NECCUS required assistance in launching the highly-anticipated SNZR report, we were best placed to help.
We marketed and delivered the SNZR report launch at an event at the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. The event was sponsored by Crown Estate Scotland, and brought together leaders from the public and private sectors to discuss the report's findings, and explore opportunities for collaboration in the journey to net zero. It featured a keynote speech by John Lamont MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Scotland, highlighting the importance of the report in shaping Scotland's future decarbonisation strategy.
As well as event management, we also designed the 50-page SNZR report itself. This required working closely with the SNZR team to create a style that fit the NECCUS brand, and paid homage to the many organisations that had supported the project. We also designed supporting figures (i.e. charts, tables) to visually represent the report’s key findings.
The report was well-received and came at a fortuitous moment, coinciding with a UK government announcement pledging £20 billion over 20 years to support new CCS projects.
